Dermot Keyes RIP

Garryowen FC regrets to announce the passing of Dermot Keyes (5 Bracken Crescent, North Circular Road, Limerick) on 27th September 2017. The Keyes family have a long association with the club both as players and members.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Dermot’s wife, Terry and to his children Elizabeth, Laura, Emma and Alison. Also to his brothers Fergal and Brendan, sisters Deirdre and Grainne,

Reposing at his home on Friday evening from 5.30 to 7.30 followed by removal to Our Lady of the Rosary, Ennis Road Requiem mass Saturday at 10.30 with funeral afterwards to Mount St Lawrence Cemetery (Extension) Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Irish Cancer Society


Neville Furlong RIP

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of our friend and fellow clubman Neville Furlong.  Neville was a popular and hard working member of Garryowen FC and represented us as a player, underage coach and Chairman of Underage Rugby.  Neville also had the destinction of representing Ireland as a player.  

Reposing at Milford Care Centre, Castletroy this Wednesday, 27th September, from 5 p.m. with removal at 8.30 p.m. to St. Joseph’s Church, Castleconnell. Requiem Mass on Thursday, 28th September, at 11.30 a.m., burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Castleconnell. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Milford Hospice.




Results Round Up

Good wins for our 1sts and 3rds teams in the UBL and McInerney Cup respectively.

The 1sts secured our first win in the UBL aginst Buccaneers following an opening day defeat to St Marys in Dublin.

Four tries secured an important bonus point and moved us to fifth in the UBL table. Trailing 17-15 with 10 minutes to go the lads showed great grit and character to score two tries to win the game.  Next week sees us take on sixth placed Clontarf in Dooradoyle.

Conversions: Neil Cronin, Bill Johnston (1 each)

Pentalty: Bill Johston

The 3rds had a big win over St.Senans in Shannon running out 52-5 winners.  Their first Gleeson League game is on October 7th, home to Newport ko 14:30

Mrs. Máire Magee RIP

It is with great regret and sadness that we learn of the passing of Mrs Máire Magee mother of past player and Hon Fixtures Secretary, David.

Funeral details as follows:

Reposing at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street on Wednesday evening from 5.30pm to 7pm followed by removal to St Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Avenue.

Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11.30am followed by private cremation. Family flowers only.


Sporting Limerick Charity Cup Final
