Weekend Results

Sunday, April 29th, 2018

The weekend got off to a flying start on Friday evening as our 3rds beat Cork Con to retain their Munster title with a score line of 20-17.  Congratulations to all concerned.

On Saturday we travelled to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to face Lansdowne in the UBL semi final, having beaten then in the regular season we had some justified confidence going into the game.  We started brightly to lead 0-3 before they scored their first try in the Havelock Sq end to lead 5-3, Neil Cronin and  Scott Deasy exchanged penalties which saw them lead 8-6 at half time.  The second half saw Lansdowne score an early try which moved them to a 15-6 lead.  Two penalties by Neil Cronin pulled the score back to 15-12.  This was short lived as they ran in two more tries to lead 29-12 before we managed to cross the line to bring the score to 29-19 late in the game.  No to be out done Lansdowne added another 7 pointer to finish the game 36-19 winners.  While this will be hard to take for the team and management, we live to fight another day.

All our players and coaches from our 1sts, 2nds, 3rds and U20 have given us a great season, one to be proud of.  Thank you one and all.
